An Affordable Program!

While many other Japanese language programs will cost between $10,000 and $16,000 per semester, the KCP program costs $6,000 or less—about half the cost!  Academic credit and financial aid are available through our sponsoring and affiliate Universities, and you should be able to apply federal and state financial aid to this program.

Courses Only option includes:

Dormitory or Homestay options include all that plus:
• Pick-up at Narita Airport on your arrival date
• Lodging: your choice of dorm room or homestay
• Homestay with breakfast and dinner
• Transportation pass between lodging and school

Dormitory meals are not included in this cost but are available for an additional fee: 55,000 Yen for a regular KCP semester and 41,000 Yen for the summer short term. This amount is paid in Yen during your first week of the program. The meal plan includes breakfasts and dinners.

A check or money order for $350 payable to KCP International U.S.A. must accompany the application. The remaining balance (total cost minus fees) must be paid in full 90 days prior to leaving for Japan.

Travel to and from Japan and personal expenses including some culture class transportation are not included. Airfare varies depending upon the season of travel. Typically, round-trip fares between the U.S. and Japan range from $700 to $1,200. Participants should budget $1,500 to $2,500 per semester for all their meals and personal expenses.

Academic credit is available through KCP sponsor and affiliate universities. For a low fee ranging from $255 to $660, participants may acquire over 1 year of Japanese language credit each term. This offers the opportunity to apply existing or new state and federal financial aid, makes it easier to transfer credit allowing you to possibly graduate earlier, and saves you money.

Costs of Academic Credit

Academic credit is available for this program. For a nominal fee ranging from $255-$425, participants can acquire over a year of Japanese language credit each term. If you are interested in academic credit and the possibility of financial aid, explore one of our Sponsor Universities.


Sponsor Universities

These universities offer academic credit for the KCP programs for students both within and outside the school. They may also have financial aid available.

Western Washington University
WWU is ranked high among the top public universities in the West, and is honored for its intensive individual and academic attention to students from faculty. Students are among the most academically prepared in the Pacific Northwest.

University of Idaho
The University of Idaho offers a wide range of baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees. The Foreign Languages and Literatures department supports students majoring in computer science and business as well as those majoring in languages.

Lincoln University
The nation’s oldest historically black university, LU is a coeducational, state-related liberal arts institution. Its international involvement dates back to the late 1800s, and it regularly offers 7 languages. LU is located just outside of Philadelphia.


Affiliate Universities

These universities offer academic credit for the KCP program for students who are enrolled within their school.

Elizabethtown College
Elizabethtown College offers 53 majors and more than 80 minors and concentrations in the liberal arts, sciences and professional studies. A 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio and average class size of 25 provides students with meaningful interactions with professors, 90% of whom hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their field. Encouraged, challenged and supported by these engaging faculty, students become involved in experiential learning opportunities that include research, internships and off-campus study.

Idaho State University
ISU, a state institution, serves about 13,600 students. The main campus is in Pocatello, though ISU serves several other areas in Idaho. The Foreign Languages department offers majors and minors in several languages, supported by a cutting-edge language lab for self-paced instruction.

The College of New Jersey
TCNJ, with close to 6,000 undergraduate students and 900 graduate students, offers an extensive body of study in culture and society, including many modern languages, international studies, and global learning in a highly competitive setting. It has been recognized nationally for its excellence.
