• There is a minimum age requirement of 18. Although there is no rigid Japanese language requirement, we strongly recommend that you have one semester of Japanese completed, or knowledge of Hiragana and Katakana, before applying. If you don’t have this background, you should prepare for the program by taking a class in Japanese. Courses range over 6 levels of language ability. To apply, you need a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). All-around good grades are a strong indicator of your ability to succeed. Your grades in Japanese courses will be taken into consideration. Students with the most enthusiastic comments about our program have had completed at least 1 year of college Japanese. (Three years of high school Japanese equal 1 year of college Japanese) If you are not a native speaker of English, you must demonstrate your English ability. For non-students, copies of recent high school or college diplomas are required instead of a transcript.
