The KCP International Japanese Language School is open to all full-time undergraduate students regardless of their fields of study; to postgraduate students; and to adult professionals. There is a minimum age requirement of 18. This is a college-level program; it is not for high school students.

Courses range over 6 levels of language ability. To apply, you need a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). All-around good grades are a strong indicator of your ability to succeed. Your grades in Japanese courses will be taken into consideration.

If you are not a native speaker of English, you must demonstrate your English ability. For non-students, copies of recent high school or college diplomas are required instead of a transcript. Students with the most enthusiastic comments about our program have had at least 1 year of college Japanese. Three years of high school Japanese equal 1 year of college Japanese. Although there is no rigid Japanese language requirement, we strongly recommend that you have one semester of Japanese completed, or a knowledge of Hiragana and Katakana, before applying. If you don’t have this background, consider preparing for the program by taking a class in Japanese.
