I thought it was worth enrolling in KCP.

Ryan from Fall 2014

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The culture trip to Kanazawa and Gifu prefecture was the best trip, I thought. It was great to be able to visit a place that most Japanese people living in the large metropolitan cities don't go to visit very often or at all. The scenery was gorgeous.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Most vocabulary that I pick up comes from reading books on my own time. However, formally learning grammar points and commonly used expressions during class time helped put many words I've seen and heard into context, allowing me to better organize my knowledge of the language.

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

The room was adequately spacious and easy to live in. Also the dormitory cafeteria was great. 200 yen breakfast and 500 yen dinner, each with adequately healthy, tasty food and adequate quantity. I have no complaints about the dorm. Just, it was a little bit far from KCP campus. It takes about an hour, one way, to get to school.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I thought it was worth enrolling in KCP. I definitely feel that it has helped me take my Japanese language skills to a new level.

Testimonials

KCP’s Summer (short) term program fit my personal schedule very well. It was also the most professional and affordable program that I could find. It also included a cultural aspect to its education program that I appreciated.
