I saw different aspects of life in Japan.

Alison from 2013

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The BBQ was fun, I liked hanging out with my class all day.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work helped me because whatever I didn't understand I could ask my partner. I made sure to sit next to people who, even if not native English speakers, knew at least some English that, when coupled with Japanese, helped me understand lessons more.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Getting to see different aspects of life in Japan.

Where did you live?

Kasai Dorm.

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

It was nice. I liked my room and the privacy it allowed me while having a few classmates, including my Sempai, nearby.

Testimonials

Going to class every day, and the workload, gave me a sense of what living in Japan would be like. I was able to learn Japanese daily, as well as have enough time in the day to study and explore the country.
