Pair work was by far the most helpful.

Gavin from Summer Short-term 2025

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Tokyo Fire Department Museum visit was very informative and my personal favorite because of that. However, the Yamanashi Prefecture trip was also very enjoyable and quite informative as well.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most useful parts of the program for me were centered around the extensive speaking practice that we received. However, paradoxically, the script-based speaking parts were some of the least useful for me. It evolved into a sort of rote memorization that I found impractical for speaking.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work was by far the most helpful. Specifically, the pair work where partners rotated around the room. While it was quite nerve-racking in general, I found my speaking abilities grew a lot because of it.

Testimonials

I selected this program because it allows me to use my student loans to attend, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to have this experience. I also wanted a challenge and to improve my fluency as fast as possible. The pace at KCP is challenging but helps me focus.
