Valentina from Summer 2022

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The teacher's were extremely personal and truly showed how much they cared about each individual student. From extracurricular classes, to meetings. It was very sweet. The classes were fun too, especially interacting with other students and learning things about each other in japanese.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Pair work, games, and group activities were the best for me personally. I'm usually the type to learn quietly on my own, but things stuck better when I talked with students. Even embarrassing moments helped my improvement.

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

I believe there should be a Level 0 or something of the sort that focuses on vocabulary and Kana. Level 1 is still too mixed in knowledge level and doesn't feel equal. Students who truly started from 0 have a hard time keeping up with the rest.

If you’re considering KCP, just sign up. If you have to, save up for it. It was worth it. I continue to learn the language, I continue to make new friends, I continue to find new, unfamiliar and exciting places and all of this was possible because I made the decision to learn at KCP. I have met some really great people (friends as well as teachers) who have helped me grow as a person. I’m thankful for this time I’ve spent here. It really has gone by too fast but I will forever remember the memories I’ve made here.
