If you are serious about learning Japanese then this program is FANTASTIC! I

Louise from 2013

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

Virtually all of them! The sports day was a great bonding day and a lot of fun to participate in. I think the rest were all culture classes and these were a lot of fun, highly interesting and informative. I particularly enjoyed the tea ceremony, the Asakusa tour, and the lectures on Japanese psychology & religion and traditional forms of theatre. Unfortunately I missed the one regarding foreign workers in Japan :(

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

Tea ceremony, Asakusa tour, and the lectures

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

English support and homework, I think. The small group sessions were also useful. The tests are a great motivational tool!!

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

The insight gained into Japanese psychology, religion, the tea ceremony and traditional forms of theatre. Super interesting stuff!

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Just that KCP is great, and if you are serious about learning Japanese then this program is FANTASTIC! I've read on previous evaluations that the teachers really do want to help you learn, and I experienced this first hand and can confirm that its true! As for tips ... some may like to bring their own pillows if living in a dorm. I got used to the bean-bag like pillow but others have complained that they're uncomfortable, and don't use them

Any other comments or suggestions?

Forgot to mention previously, at first I thought KCP was too good to be true because I could not find a single negative review anywhere. Every comment I found was positive. Turns out there's a very good reason for this :)

Testimonials

If you want a challenge, then this program in definitely what you’re looking for. I came into the program with very basic knowledge of Japanese and am definitely excited about how much I have improved. Learning a language isn’t instant and it takes a while to sink in, but the longer you’re here you become more motivated to utilize what you learn and to continue to progress in your studies. And all of the instructors and office staff are some of the most friendly and approachable people I have ever met. They really make the whole experience quite enjoyable!
